US Hikers

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Who we are

US Hikers is operated by Oz Systems, based in Australia. We publish trail guides for hikers planning US national park hikes. Our website address is: https://ushikers.com

What information we collect

We do not run accounts, sign-in, payments, comments or user-generated content. The site is a collection of static trail guides and does not ask you to create an account or submit personal information.

Analytics

When a Google Analytics ID is configured, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and understand which guides are useful. This may set cookies to track anonymized page views and referral sources. You can learn more about how Google uses data at Google's privacy policy.

When no Google Analytics ID is configured (as is currently the case), no analytics code runs and no analytics cookies are set.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Vercel) collects standard server logs, including IP addresses and request URLs, to operate the service and diagnose technical issues. These logs are retained per Vercel's policies and are not shared with us for tracking individual visitors.

Affiliate links

We may add affiliate links to gear or services in the future. When we do, we will clearly disclose affiliate relationships in the guides where they appear. If you purchase through an affiliate link, the merchant may share a commission with us, which helps support the site. Affiliate links do not change the price you pay or the facts in the guide.

Advertising

We do not currently run display ads. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy to describe how ad networks handle data.

Third-party services

Our guides link to official government pages (such as nps.gov, recreation.gov, and fs.usda.gov) for permits, fees and current conditions. When you follow those links, you leave our site and are subject to the privacy policies of those services.

Your rights

Because we do not collect or store personal information beyond standard server logs, there is no account data to access, correct or delete. If you have questions about how your information is handled by our hosting provider or by Google Analytics (when configured), you can contact those services directly or review their privacy policies.

Children's privacy

The site is a general-audience resource and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not run accounts or ask for personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the site evolves. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We compile trail facts from official sources — the National Park Service, US Forest Service and park permit systems — and cross-check distance, elevation gain and permit rules before publishing. Every guide shows the date it was last verified. We are hikers writing for hikers; we are not a government agency and our guides are planning references, not a substitute for current official trail and weather advisories.
